Meet the Owner of Spahr Consulting
Lisa Spahr, Coach, Author and Speaker
I've been helping people professionally for more than a decade, as a clinician, teacher, advocate, and researcher. All of these roles have allowed me to enrich the personal and professional lives of others. I received my bachelors degree in psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia and my masters of science degree from the University of Liverpool in England. People have been and continue to be at the heart of my work.
Outside of behavioral health and clinical roles, I have more than a ten years experience as a researcher and manager in for-profit, non-profit and academic institutions. I've lived in Washington DC, working for a leading military contractor as a lead scientist, the largest veteran service organization in the country as an advocate and researcher, at a police think tank as a researcher and manager. I have worked for companies that pride themselves on innovation, one specifically being named the Top 100 Training Companies for 2006 and one of the 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies from 2003-2006. It is my collective experience in these diverse domains that allows me to serve clients in a well-rounded and versed way. From such, I have amassed a large repertoire of successful work applications -and attitudes- as well as those that often fail. As an advisor to my clients I use this library to assess various situations and propose several options toward optimal outcomes.
It is not uncommon for me to manage multiple jobs within my career paths. I have often worked both full-time and part-time commitments simultaneously. These choices were often made to strike a balance in my life and fulfill a particular role at the appropriate times. For example, one job may have provided great personal satisfaction and the other may have been enhancing my management experiences.
I am very proud to call Pittsburgh home. I came here after living abroad and settled in rather quickly. I left to pursue a dynamic career with an employer outside of Pittsburgh, only to return because I missed the lifestyle and charm of Pittsburgh. I live in the Regent Square neighborhood with my husband, Rob, and our two canine companions. Rob an I enjoy our weekends with his four children hiking in nearby Frick Park. I also enjoy cooking, traveling for business and pleasure, and being active in the community.
I am a member of Business Networks International (BNI), Pittsburgh Professional Women (PPW), Military Writers Society of America (MWSA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and several Chambers of Commerce.
